Kicker Schmit and Punter Turk Winners Saturday

Oklahoma’s All-American punter Michael Turk and placekicker Zach Schmit were the winning factors as the Sooners took to a solid 27-13 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones mid-morning/afternoon in Ames.  Turk flipped a two yard toss to placement kicker Zach Schmit in a fake field goal play and then had two significant punts in the 4th quarter.  His 60 and 61 yard punts to keep the Cyclone offense buried deep on their own side of the field leading to two final OU pass interceptions of ISU quarterback Hunter Dekkers to seal the game for the visitors.  Schmit added two field goals for OU.  These two Sooners proved again that a strong special teams can win or lose games and their play gave OU the winning advantage on Saturday.
