TEXAS/OU prediction:Â 24-6 Horns
Not a popular opinion in my state of Oklahoma, but the Sooners are in for some tough times in the Cotton Bowl Saturday in Dallas. With the No. 1 Horns coming in with a superior team in every area but the kicking game, this one could get out of control by halftime; that is my take. I have Texas winning this one 24-6, holding the Sooners out of the end zone for the third straight game. Â
Now let us get to the real issue with the OU football program. It starts with injuries, runs through inferior offensive coaching, and ends with a total breakdown: the head coach isn’t made for the job of being a top-tier head man at the highest level of college football. Brent Venables is in over his head.Â
Injuries, as usual, will deplete the Sooners of some of their best players from game to game, and that is not typical for most other programs. Tomorrow, OU will lose upwards of 10 top-line players. Why is that?  Tell me: how can one of your top defensive players injure himself during a Thursday walkthrough and end up on a late injury report? Ask the Sooners, but you will not get a reply. Game in, game out, the Sooners have injuries to offensive linemen, running backs, and other key positions. This happens game to game, season to season. Â
Can OU win six games this year? Probably not. Expect injuries to mount, dismissals to continue, and the team to keep failing to move the ball, leaving the defense with an impossible task of winning games on its own.Â
Will OU continue with this folly? Yes, Brent Venables signed a two-year extension before this season started, and his buyout is expensive. He will be back in 2027.
Hello, Sooner fans, how do you like the SEC, where every conference game is a struggle? You wanted the SEC, you got the SEC.
