Yes, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas have today notified the Big Twelve Conference that they will not renew their media rights contract in 2025.  As of this, these corner stone schools of the conference have broken with the other eight schools and will seek the Southeastern Conference for inclusion as they pursue to enhance their athletic programs.

As of various sources today, OU and UT will not wait until 2025 to start their SEC endeavors.  A payout of the severance fees and any other penalties, which could be as much as $80,000,000 per school, could happen within weeks, allowing the Sooners and Longhorns to play for SEC championships next year, 2022-2023.  Both schools do not expect issues with the payout.  They have the money to leave immediately.

The other eight Big Twelve institutions will be making their moves to various landing points across the collegiate spectrum.  That process in ongoing with discussions between schools and other conferences taking place.

As of today, it is now expected that the Big Twelve will be defunct by the end of Spring 2022 and the eight teams will scatter into other conferences.  Here is my take on where the schools will end up by the Fall of 2022.  Oklahoma State, Kansas and Iowa State will enter the Big Ten.  West Virginia will be a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.  Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU will join the Pacific Athletic Conference.  I do not have a take on Kansas State at this time, but the Big Ten could be a possibility.

Do not think that the.conferences will stop at the number of 16 when adding schools.  With that, it would not surprise me to see Oklahoma State be a new member of the SEC along with OU and UT.  This re-alignment will be totally mind blowing when it is all said and done.

That is the way I see it sports fans.
