Current Oral Roberts men’s head coach Paul Mills will not be chosen by Sooner athletic director Joe Castiglione as the next head coach at Oklahoma University. That is my opinion. With that, Coach Mills would be an outstanding replacement for the retiring Lon Kruger after his ten successful seasons in Norman. Mills has just finished his most successful season at ORU as the Golden Eagles made the Sweet 16 in the 2021 NCAA tournament.
Mills, who as been the head coach at the Tulsa based ORU for four years, in my opinion, does not meet the qualifications of the powerful WGS Center for Social Justice that is part of the University’s voice at the Norman campus. (see site below)
Mills has been coaching at a college who’s religious mission is diametrically opposed to the WGS Center. The Board of Regents, the President of OU, and the Athletic Director will take notice of this entity, the WGS and, in my opinion, will not hire any new coach that does not meet the standards of this organization.
ORU “has been soundly mocked on social media for its archaic standards of behavior and code of conduct that bans profanity, “social dancing,” and shorts in classrooms…… it is the school’s discriminatory and hateful anti-LGBTQ+ policy” the WGS would not approve of. From the ORU handbook:
Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, honesty, modesty and morality…Certain behaviors are expressly prohibited in Scripture and therefore should be avoided by members of the University community. They include theft, lying, dishonesty, gossip, slander, backbiting, profanity, vulgarity (including crude language), sexual promiscuity (including adultery, any homosexual behavior, premarital sex), drunkenness, immodesty of dress and occult practices
With Coach Mills coming from this setting, with his years at Baylor University, again a religious school of “high moral fiber,” the WHA would not whole hardly want “his kind” on the sidelines in the LNC.
That is the way I see it sports fans.
