OU’s Lonnie Kruger retires……..Texas Tech’s assistant Ulric Maligi could be the new man…..

Kruger ends 10 year run in Norman

Oklahoma men’s basketball coach Lonnie Kruger retired today after ten years coaching the Sooners.

As of CBS sports:

In 10 seasons under Kruger’s guidance Oklahoma went 195-128 made seven NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16s and one memorable Final Four run in 2016.

Kruger also coached at Texas Pan-American, Kansas State, Illinois and Florida compiling a 673-432 record as a college coach. Kruger also coached the Atlanta Hawks for three seasons.

OU will fill the vacancy soon.  Look for an assistant coach to take the job.  I have  Ulric Maligi, Texas Tech assistant, age 35, as the leading candidate as of inside sources.

As of Myron Medcalf ESPN:   The Howard University product has identified and recruited some of the most talented players in the state of Texas and beyond, as proved by successful tenures as an assistant with Texas A&M, SMU and Stephen F. Austin before joining Chris Beard’s staff before last season. By all accounts, Maligi possesses the attributes and leadership qualities necessary to one day guide a Power 5 program. — Myron Medcalf
