TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA STATE PLAY IN AUSTIN SATURDAY

Kansas State had the big win in Starkville over Mississippi State.  Plenty of turnovers by both teams but the Wildcats are better than most thought.  I like what is happening in the Little Apple.

Iowa put it to Iowa State in Ames.  Bad loss for the Cyclones.

Oklahoma smashed UCLA in LA as expected.

Oklahoma State’s win in Tulsa over the Golden Hurricane was about what was expected.  The defense in the second half for the Pokes was excellent.

Texas had their way with steamed Rice in Houston.

Texas Tech lost to Arizona and that was not good.  Bowman is out for some weeks with an injury.  That is not good either.  Tech has serious problems.

West Virginia found their team Saturday in a win over N.C State in Morgantown.

Kansas plastered Boston College and do not ask me where that came from.  The Jayhawks have two wins and maybe they can breakthrough and win a conference game this year.  West Virginia Saturday might be their best chance at home in Lawrence.

TCU beat Purdue with ease on the road. Good for the Frogs

Big Twelve Predictions

(last week 5-4; season 21-6)

Texas and Oklahoma State open Big Twelve play in Austin. The Pokes have won eight of ten, four straight, and five straight in the Capitol city.  That ends Saturday night.  Texas has the better quarterback and the Horns stick the ‘Boys where it hurts.  It could be worse.  Can OSU, around a five point dog pull the mild upset?  Yes, if Texas overlooks the visitor and Sanders, Wallace and Hubbard go off on the Steers.  Still, expect a lot of points by Texas, and if OSU does win, a score in the 40’s by both teams will have taken place.  Texas 34 and OSU 26.

Iowa State will handle UL Monroe. Final, ISU 28, UML 10

TCU will smoke the SMU ponies. Final Frogs 38 and the Mustangs 13

West Virginia visits Lawrence to play the Jayhawks in their Big Twelve opener.  I like West Virginia here.  Hillbillies 31 and Jaybirds 19

Baylor will recook the Rice Owls in Waco.  Bears 52 and the Owls 14
