With the options that Oklahoma City Thunder super-star Kevin Durant has on his future in the Association, do not be surprised to see number thirty-five sign a long-term five year maximum contract with his current team come this summer.  As most now speculate, Durant can make the most money to sign a one and one year option in July, giving him a great look at the future and what could be his best bet to make the most money plus give him the optimal path to a championship in the league if OKC isn’t working out.  If OKC is working out it would be on him  and his legacy.  That is good for Durant.  But if it is money that Durant is chasing, he would do just that, sign for an additional year in Oklahoma City then take that option and re-sign with the Thunder or take his wears to another city for a max contract.  I don’t think it is about money anymore with the great one.  He has all the money he needs with NBA salaries and his Nike millions.  By signing in July with OKC, he frees up money that can be spent on other players, such as Russell Westbrook,  Serge Ibaka and Steven Adams.  It is about legacy with Durant and winning a Championship with “his” team, the Thunder.  Plus the fact that he knows that with Oklahoma City the Franchise and the City, and the State of Oklahoma, he will not be as loved anywhere else in the world, including Austin.  His home is here.   I don’t worry as I think there is more to Kevin Durant than the dollars.

  1. I am thrilled in the fact, that there is a possible chance that Kevin Durant will remain with Thunder!!! OKC loves Kevin, and he is such a humble Christian, and is so blessed with his talent! I totally agree, that it is not about the money, it is about his commitment and generosity to his fan’s of Oklahoma City.

  2. I totally agree Tjuana. Even if he does go somewhere else I am sure he will be gracious to OKC as he will still have many business partners here. And I am sure he wouldn’t like his associations with Sonic and his restaurant to sour.
