Georgia #1 and Texas #2

Oklahoma State’s De’Zhaun Stribling (1) is pushed out of bounds after a reception by South Dakota State’s Myles Taylor (2) in the second half of the college football game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and South Dakota State Jackrabbits at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla., Saturday, Aug., 31, 2024. Oklahoma won with defense Saturday and that is a warning to the SEC for 2024.  Sure, Temple is a bad team but the Sooners defense used the turnover to give them short fields and OU quarterback Jackson Arnold was on target in the 51-3 win in Norman.  A nice win yet the offensive line must improve if the Big Red of the South wants to challenge the SEC top teams.  It could happen.

A strong Oklahoma State performance against a good South Dakota State team showd that the Cowboys have the offense and quality big play defenders to win the Big 12.  As Coach Mike Gundy commented after the game, improvements need to be made but the Pokes are very talented and will get better after this first game.

Georgia is the best team in the country and Texas is a close 2nd after the first full weekend.  USC’s win over LSU was an important victory for the men of Troy and especially head coach Lincoln Riley. The Trojans will be a much better team in 2024 than the past two years and are going to push Ohio State in the Big Ten.
