BEWARE OF HISTORY SOONER/COWBOY FANS-PREPARE FOR A GREAT GAME
Yes, the University of Oklahoma and their football teams have, for the most part, owned the Oklahoma State University’s football teams for the history of college football. That is a fact, not a secret, and truth be told, the Cowboys have been the Sooners “little brother” in most every aspect one can imagine in football. Going into Saturday’s Bedlam tussle, in Stillwater, the wins/loses of the game favor OU, 90-18-7. The Big Red have won six in a row and sixteen out of the last eighteen. But going deeper in the record, the Pokes did win five of eight from 1995 through 2002. Yes, I will repeat, OU does own OSU in football history.
With the past Sooner fans, remember this. The past is the past and Saturday at 6:30 PM is the future. And considering the results of this current 2021 football season, the game at Boone Pickens is a game to be concerned about. The two teams hitting the carpet Saturday are not about long term history. Fans on both sides do not get fooled that the past has anything to do with what will happen until the game plays out. OU, for the first time in a while, will be the “dog” in this one and there are specific reasons for this line (that will be announced later in the week).
The reason for OSU to be favored is two fold. One, the Cowboys have played better football this year and two, they are much the better overall team when you compare the teams With that, the better team does not always win, and when rivals meet. With that, if OU wins it will surprise me, and if I am a man picking a winner, my money would go on the Cowboys.
As for Sooner fans, beware of of this game. OSU is a game your Sooners cannot play like they have this season if they expect to win. Cowboy fans, if the defense plays well, you have a strong chance to win this one. It will be historic for various reasons. I will go into detail through the week and give a late prediction on Friday night.
