NON-CONFERENCE WIN GOOD FOR THE BIG TWELVE

Les Miles’s KANSAS Jayhawks pulled the stunner of highest degree last nigh as the Jayhawks beat Boston College 48-24.  The win was a historic one for the lowly Big Twelve doormat.

As of the Kansas City Star newspaper:
The Jayhawks rolled to the blowout win despite coming in as a 20-point underdog. They also picked up their first Power Five road victory since Oct. 4, 2008 vs. Iowa, two years before iPads were invented.

With a 2-1 record in Miles start in Lawrence, the Jayhawks might not win another game this year.  That is, if West Virginia get their act together before that game with KU in week four.  Kansas will play host to West Virginia in that Big 12 opener for the 2019 season. For those who need a refresher course: KU is 5-76 — 5-76 — in conference play since 2010, with those five wins coming against TCU (2018), Texas (2016), Iowa State (2014), West Virginia (2013) and Colorado (2010).

Miles, in his first-year as the Kansas head coach reflected on the accomplishment following the win.

“Coming back to college coaching was for moments just like this….The opportunity to take a player that’s maybe not the best player now but then develop him and give him technique and win games like this … these assistant coaches and the group of people that I’m fortunate to represent … just wonderful.”
