I try my best not to listen to celebrities, athletes, and movie/tv stars when they give their opinions with regard to politics. Today I was unsuccessful. I caught my ear on Gregg Popovich.
When Coach Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs shows his disdain toward President Trump, like he did today, does he really think I want to know his opinion? I didn’t. Does he want to know my personal opinion on Trump? I don’t think so. And my personal feelings toward him has suffered. I have less respect for him as a person today than yesterday. He is a coach, not a politician. And as a citizen in this country, his opinions on the President are no more important than mine. And I wiil not give you what I think in this article. It does not matter. My opinion to strangers means little.
Using their high ranking of notoriety in the eyes of the public say to these celebrities that their beliefs and wants are also the same as their fans so they want to give their two cents to their fans. The fact is, some of the general public will listen to these “self-important people, but not agree with their opinions/beliefs, and in many instances, reject them, in more than they think. The loss of being liked can be significant which in turn, is disastrous in their careers and popularity. Loss of popularity can be significant. The better choice for these people would be to shut their traps until they retire or go into politics themselves. When you bloviate your crap, someone is not going to like it and at can impact the paycheck.
I do not support boycotts. But when someone gives an opinion that I reject, I do look at that person in a different light. As I do not have the same political views of say a Sean Penn, I do think the man is a great actor. But I do wonder what and where did he get his education. Was is a self education from experience? Where did a Madonna get such a hard ass view on America and its institutions? How about Conin Kaepernick and his views on the American Flag and National Anthem? Are you kidding me he does not partake in voting but opens his mouth on our Country? As I said Friday, today the shit hits the fan. It did. God help us all. God Bless America.
