The biggest game of your school’s season. Your arch rival that you love to hate and you can be there and watch your team win. An opportunity for your team to make significant noise in the landscape of college football. A great opportunity to win the Big Twelve Conference football championship. What more would a football fanatic want?
Oklahoma State University gave back (to Oklahoma) one thousand tickets allotted them to sell to Poke Nation for them to see their Cowboys play the Sooners in Norman this December. The OSU athletic department was not able to sell those ducats to their supporters. Embarrassing in the least, this non-support by this fan base is not only surprising but an indicator that all is not well in Stillwater and it’s football venture.
Possible reasons for the lack of support:
-
Cowboy fans do not want to be in the stadium to see their Pokes to get blown out
-
Cowboy fans do not want to pay the $115 ticket price (for various reasons)
-
Cowboy fans can not stand to sit in the stadium in Norman with Sooner fans
-
Cowboy fans have a lack of interest (the base is weak)
-
You tell me……..this is really bad
As a Bedlam man in having my sons attend both OU and OSU, this lack of a supporting fan base is puzzling. I will be there to watch the game live, with my OSU son sitting next to me. As I would not miss the game, a red card for OSU’s supporters for this stink. You want to be considered a big time program playing for conference and national honors? Not right now Poke fans. And I wonder what Head Coach Mike Gundy thinks of his fans. LSU, Texas, etc……You know what I mean sports fans.
Poke fans, after today romp over TCU do you not want to see the OU game in person? Be there for a possible Big Twelve title? I do not understand why you don’t support your team in Bedlam……
We do support our team….that doesn’t mean we have to show up in Norman to be supportive. Ive always been supportive but hate going to Norman because of how disrespectful and classless the non alumni/non student fans are…which accounts for more than half the fans in that stadium. And I know a large handful or diehard pokes fans that feel the same way. I know those non alumni non student fans don’t embody the university or they feelings, but the hate is still disgusting at best. When you have fans screaming at the top of their lungs that they hope an OSU player is hurt and that he stays down and gets hauled off on a stretcher, you don’t really care to watch games there (one of my actual first hand experiences). After hearing that crap like that once or twice, people don’t want to go back. Like I said, those people that are bandwagon and never went to school there do not represent those that did or are attending the school, but they still leave a huge impression.
I understand what you have posted Adam. It is a very weak excuse. I guess you represent the vast majority of Poke fans that do not stand up for their team by going to Norman because you cannot take the crap (you say) that is presented to you. I would rather have bandwagon fans than ones that are like little sissy ones that can’t take it. And if we are going to talk fans that didn’t go to schools they should not support a favorite team? Again, very weak. With respect Adam and I appreciate your comments.
