One win is great. Two wins even better. But a third win (PGA) puts Rickie Fowler in the highest rated group of golfers in the world as the formerOklahoma State University star won that 3rd title Labor Day with a masterful back nine to overcome a three shot deficient to beat Henrick Stenson with a 15 under 269 at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Mass.

The win puts Fowler in the 5th spot in the world (and 3rd in the Fed-Ex standings), just a notch behind the “Top 3″ of Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and  Jason Day.   With a win at The Players Championship in May and the Scottish Open later, Fowler has finally reached his potential.

Explaining his hot finish, Fowler remarked, “being in those positions before, I definitely felt very calm out there.  I knew what I was trying to do. Knew what I had to do. And was very much ready to do it.”

For Fowler, he recognizes his standings in the world with those top 3 ahead of him.

‘They’ve clearly played the best out of anyone over the past few months to couple of years,  so I’m trying to be a small fourth thrown in there. But there’s a lot of other really good young players playing well right now, as well.”

Fowler has certainly become a major player in golf and summed up the final round.

“I was put in positions where I maybe wasn’t swinging the best and I was able to get the most out of my round that day. Really just hung in there today as well. Put myself in position. Hit some good shots. Made a couple good putts to kind of keep myself in it. It’s pretty special to fight it out the way I did.”

Welcome to the big time Rickey.  A Masters, The Open, The US Open, and the PGA await for your biggest win.  It won’t be long.
