As the weekend college, the football Power Five conferences play their championship games, the discussion will be hot and heavy for the fans as they like or dislike the football committee’s Final Four and they may accept or not accept the opinionated choices.

As of the committee’s biased ratings, the following teams that have a shot at making the four are (in their ranking order)

  1. Georgia

  2. Michigan

  3. Washington

  4. Florida State

  5. Oregon

  6. Ohio State

  7. Texas

  8. Alabama

The games are as follows:

PAC Championship:  Oregon vs Washington

The skinny says that the favorite, Oregon, beats Washington Friday night.  Can’t beat a good team twice, as the Huskies took the Ducks 36-33 in the regular season.  I like Oregon too, but with a strong minded quarterback in Michael Penix Jr, along with a defense that can come through in the pinch, this game should be as close as the first one.  I say Oregon 38 and Washington 31.  Oregon punches their ticket for the Final Four Friday night in Las Vegas.

Big 12 Championship:  Texas vs Oklahoma State

Upset for the Pokes depends upon Texas not playing to their capabilities and that would include turnovers in bunches.  Without help,  OSU has little chance in this game in at 11:00 am in Arlington, Texas.  I have my doubts that the rushing game for the Cowboys will not be effective early on and the Horns will bottle up the nation’s leading rusher Ollie Gordon.  OSU will give up some big plays throughout the game and I have Texas in a not-so close 45 to 23 win.  Texas will need some serious help to make the Final Four.

ACC Championship:  Florida State vs Louisville

The Seminoles took a hit losing their effective quarterback Jordan Travis but that should not stop them from giving Louisville a loss in this game in Charlotte, NC.  It should be a close shave for FSU but in the end they stay undefeated.  I have Florida State 27 and Louisville 20.  Florida State, with a perfect 13-0 with this win, deserves a spot in the Final Four.  Only the opinions of the committee will allow the Seminoles to play for a National Title.  Do I think they are one of the best four teams?  My opinion is of no matter. But the word deserves say that a 13-0 conference champ should have as good a chance as any team.

Big 10 Championship:  Michigan vs Iowa

If Iowa can make it difficult for Michigan to score, which they seem to do against any foe, the Hawkeyes can make a game of it.  Does Iowa have  offense to make a dent in the strong Wolverine defense is another story.  This could be shut-out as I really have no hope that Iowa can score enough to keep up.  Michigan 20 and Iowa 3.  Michigan is a lock for the Final Four with a win.

SEC Championship:  Georgia vs Alabama

After some deep thinking, the Georgia Bulldogs become the most dominate team in college football Saturday night in Atlanta.  Georgia will dismantle the Tide in this one.  It will not be close as the Dogs sweep into the Final Four with a 38 to 13 win.  Georgia shows that they will be the team to beat the rest of the way.

My Final Four Rankings after the championship games:  Georgia, Michigan, Florida State, Oregon

Georgia vs Oregon

Michigan vs Florida State

Now, off the rails:  In my opinion, who are the four best teams in college football.  I have Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon.  My second four would be Florida State, Washington, Texas, and Alabama, in that order.

Further off the rails: What will the committee do?:   I have Georgia, Michigan, Oregon/Washington winner, and Florida State.
