On a question asked of Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy about freshman quarterback Zane Flores, his response was “Zane’s not ready. Great future. Great prospect. Love every bit of him. But Zane’s not ready right now,” Gundy’s quote was at his Monday press conference.

From ALL POKES ON FAN NATION, “The reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in Nebraska is going to be a huge part of this program and make an impact in the new-look Big 12 for years to come, but it appears that he’s first going to spend this year preparing from the sideline.”  The site went on to say, “In Week 2, Flores was the practice player of the week for the offensive unit. It seems his redshirt year of preparation is going accordingly.”

With that, and accordance with the Coach, the three quarterbacks that have been sharing the duties during the first three games, which will continue at Ames on Saturday with a tussle with Iowa State.  Coach Gundy want everyone to believe that the play of the three quarterbacks has been rather good, as Gundy does not want to say that the quarterback play is lacking.  Fact is, Gundy has mentioned that OSU does NOT have major issues with the team overall, despite an apology to the fan base after Saturday’s loss, at home, to South Alabama, 33-7.

My take is that I will not question Gundy on Flores’s readiness to play, but I do question the preparation and potency of the Cowboy offense with the three quarterbacks against the visitors from Mobile.  Their play was a microcosm of the offense.   OSU, today, is a bad offensive team with rather ineffective players, a terrible offensive scheme with a lack of a running game, and coaching that has been lackluster this season so far.  As for the quarterbacks, I have not been impressed to say the least.  The pistol’s are NOT firing in Stillwater.
