AT 56 COALE IS NOT FINISHED COACHING

Sherri Coale retired today as the women’s head basketball coach.  She says she might write a book now that she is not leading the Sooner women.  I say she will not have time to write that book for a few years as she will become the head coach of another program within months as her coaching career takes her to new experiences at another major college school in college basketball.  Coale is a coach first and foremost and at age 56 she still has many years to be a productive leader of a basketball program.  Her blood still runs with desire.

This comment today tells it all.  ““Through much prayer and the gifts of a year that provided pockets of stillness most years never produce, I have amazing clarity,” Coale said. “Basketball was my first and deepest love and coaching has been this wonderfully amazing life that I can’t believe they pay me for. But there have always been other things I want to do. I’m ready to explore those things and I’m ready to run toward unfettered days with my brand-new beautiful granddaughter. Twenty-five years just feels right in my bones and in my soul.”

Her love of coaching will be short lived. She will get the itch shortly.
That is my take sports fans.
