I had a dream last night and it was a horrific one. I dreamed the Oklahoma Sooners will be shocked in the 2020 Cotton Bowl as the out maned Florida Gators pull the upset (in Oklahoma only) 41 to 29.
As in the 1978 Orange Bowl when Lou Holtz had his Arkansas Razorbacks primed for a big game upset, Florida is set for a good old wagon train massacre on the Sooner Schooner.
OU has set the stage for over-confidence in this tussle. With a gun-slinger at quarterback in Kyle Trask, working with a depleted receiving corps, and a porous defense that has issues, the Gators should be belly to let the “Sooners” slice and dice them in this game in Arlington. But that dream was not the way it tells me it is going down.
Don’t look Sooner fans, but this young Big Red will not play the game we expect and the ride back to Norman will be unpleasant. What would you expect? Yes Sooner fans, the same thoughts were had before that Orange Bowl debacle.
As bad as it was for Barry Switzer and the boys in the 78 game, OU head coach Lincoln Riley will understand that feeling after the game in Jerry’s World.
This is 2020, right? That sports fans is not good in any which way.
