To NBA fans in OKC that have never experienced an NBA tank:

If you have no clue about what is going on why do you follow basketball? Teams like Oklahoma City sometimes have to rebuild…..that is, go officially in the tank.  Folks , fellow Thunder fans, the team is “tanking” and that is something that many of us will not like but it is reality.

What does that mean, to tank?  Simply, your team is on a mission to  lose as many games as they can in the next couple of years.  No ifs, ands, or buts about it……do you understand that?

The team loses to enhance their their chance to get higher draft picks in the next draft cycle.  That helps the team to rebuild in a quicker fashion.

Steven Adams and his staying in OKC would not benefit the Thunder in the rebuild. Neither would any really good player that is not looked upon as one the team would want on the roster when the rebuild is in its final stages, which could be three to five years in the future.

Rebuilding will test the fans of a franchise.  I suspect that the majority of fans on Reno Street will, in time understand that. And the fact that you can still enjoy the best basketball in the world is not chicken salad, even if the Thunder come up with a loss more times than not during the near future.
