My 25 Favorite Films by release date, earliest to latest…Wizard of OZ, third of the series. Having viewed over 5,000 films that I have cataloged, on this site, Letterboxd, the twenty five films that I would consider my top echelon favorites, my third movie is an all-time great with a stellar cast.
Scared the wiz out of me as a child……bad dreams and frightmares were common. One of the finest and most entertaining movie experiences of all time for me. A movie that has it all. Begin with the story. A little girl, in a dream, is swept up in a Kansas tornado and lands in a fantasy world, the world of Oz. Historic performances by all the actors involved, with Judy Garland giving her finest presentation on the silver screen. Songs that you do not forget, characters that you love, or as in the wicked witch, you fear, and ones that have the power to make or break your day. What starts in a monotone stain matte finish turns into a beautiful experience of pure striking color for the viewer. We all know the story so I will stop here. I love this move and will view it often. Rated five stars on my short Letterboxd review. Have a DVD copy of he film.
