SETH LITTRELL GONE…..JOE JOHN FINLEY NEW PLAY CALLER
Oklahoma fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell Sunday. The Sooners suffered their third loss Saturday, a 35-9 beatdown to the Gamecocks of South Carolina on Owen Field. It was the third loss for OU and the second game in a row that the offense was shut down by a SEC defense. In the loss, OU fell behind 21-0 in the first six and one half minutes and that was all she wrote in this one.
While Littrell becomes the first scapegoat for head coach Brent Venables for the Sooners atrocious offense in 2024, it will not be the last. No mind that OU has an extremely impotent offensive line, a major injury bug that has sidelined the starting and second team wide receivers, and starting quarterbacks that lack experience at this level of college football. I really wonder if it is Coach Littrell’s fault for the lack of production. Joe John Finley takes over for Littrell as the play caller for OU come Saturday against Ole Miss.
Venables comments on the situation: “Seth is an all-time great Sooner. He has a deep love for this university and football program and has poured his heart and soul into both. Despite that, our performance as an offense this season has not at all lived up to the OU standard and I felt a change was necessary now.”
