Hangman’s Knot is a 1952 American Western film written and directed by Roy Huggins.
If you are into westerns, this one should satisfy. The screenplay, acting, direction, and overall look for a “B” film here are way above average. You can read the plot lines elsewhere but again, this one is for a pleasure in it’s 87 minute run time. Randolph Scott and Donna Reed show their compatibility working together here in this early 50s ride. (Note Lee Marvin. He is very good as a hot headed soldier in one of his first screen performances. As Randolph Scott might be considered a 2nd level actor, this film proves why the film lovers of his time spent their money to view his work in western films. He did not make boring cowboy films.
Four stars out of five stars on my short Letterboxd review.
