After viewing a slate of Big 12 contests today, I have come to the conclusion that the conference is loaded with a mess of mediocre to awful teams.   This over bloated conference comes in last, this year, when ranking it with the SEC, PAC 12, Big 10, and ACC.  The Big 12 is last in the Power Five, and that says much for the league in 2023.

With Texas leading the way, they are having difficulty in putting away  the sound but rather mundane Wyoming  Cowboys tonight in Austin.  At the half UT leads 14-0 but are losing the statistical battle with the Cowboys.   We all had the illusion that Texas is back after their win over Alabama last week, but  on further thought, maybe they are not  Texas could lose this one.  More later on this game.  The fact that the Tide is not the Tide of old as they had to struggle in winning tonight at home against a bad South Florida, 17-3, was the Longhorn win really that good?  Maybe not.  Nick Saban has quarterback issues and they are not as strong on defense as they have been the past ten years.  Fact that Texas, the best the Big 12 has to offer, might not be what it is all cracked up to be.

Take a look at Kansas State and their walk0ff loss at Missouri today off a 61 yard Tiger field goal, the Wildcat are not world beaters too.  K-State was outgained by Missouri and let the Tigers go for 351 passing yards in the loss.  The men from the Little Apple are now a disappointment too.

Oklahoma stayed unbeaten with their rout of Tulsa today, giving the Sooners two blowout wins in three games. How good is OU?  The defense is better but Tulsa’s 2nd string quarterback, actually 3rd, as the starter did not play today, found the air game to his liking with two touchdowns passes and some nice passing yardage. OU’s run defense is really good but pressure of the quarterback has not come around in three games.  OU’s defense, for me, is still suspect.  As for the offense, are we going to say they can score on anyone?  They did have their troubles with SMU last week.  OU has the best potential to Texas and Kansas State, and in the long run, maybe they will make the Championship game, probably against Texas, but another team is not out of the question.

Lets now get to the low riders in the league with no particular order.

Oklahoma State is being eaten alive by the South Alabama Jaguars tonight as I work on this article. It is now 32-7 with seven minutes to go. OSU does not have a quarterback.  OSU does not have have a good offensive line for an adequate running game. OSU is not a good team.  They will win some games in the conference not because they are good but they are lucky and will win games against teams that are also crappers.

Baylor lost to Texas State then lost at home to Utah in a game they could have won.  Baylor best Long Island University tonight 30-7 in Waco.  Long Island lost to Bryant last week 23-7.  LIU’s stadium has a seating capacity of 6,000.  What does that say about the Bears?  Baylor is a crap team this year.

TCU lost Colorado at home in their season opener.  Sure it was Prime Time’s Buffalo team but I am not impressed. A team that was in the playoffs last year should never lose to a team that only one one game the year before.  TCU is having a time beating another bad Big 12 team tonight in Houston.  The Cougars lost to Rice last week.  TCU not a good football team right now but their his some hope.

Houston lost to Rice last week.  They are a crap team as TCU was beating them tonight.

Ohio beat Iowa State today.  Crap team in Ames.

Cincinnati lost to Miami (Ohio).  Not good for the men from Cincinnati.

Texas Tech and West Virginia won today.  Redemption for them after early season loses

BYU and Univ. Central Florida remain undefeated.  So far, they avoid being crappers.

Kansas and  Nevada are tied 13-13 in the 3rd quarter in Reno tonight. Kansas is also undefeated going into the game tonight.
