<\/a><\/p>\nAs we approach the big game in college football in about ten days, here are what I think are negatives of the game at the highest level.\u00a0 I can say that the way the lower divisions of the sport are set up, major college football could use their examples in improving the game. Some of the issues I bring up below do cross over to All levels of college football.\u00a0 I do not think that all will agree with my list, and the issues I have may never be changed to suit my likings.\u00a0 With that sports fans, here are the problems I see with the game and changes that would drastically move the game in a new direction.\u00a0 Just look at the empty stadiums at too many universities during the season and the vacant seats most of the lessor bowl games, changes need to be made.<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<\/h6>\n\n- \n
\u00a0<\/span>Targeting is a stain of the game as viewed by the paying public and the players that lace them up.\u00a0 Taking a player out of a game because of something that he might not have done intentionally is not only wrong but un-American.\u00a0 The ejections of players because a rule is a rule that cannot be changed needs work.\u00a0 Let us have a targeting one and a targeting two. T-1 should not be an ejection as the act deemed not intentional, and resulting in no personal injury.\u00a0 T-2 would be totally intentional with possible injury to the player targeted. A player found to be in T-1 shall not be put back in the game if the person inured by the targeting foul results in “his” injury and a person in T-2 is ejected for that game only for a first half infraction and will miss the rest of the current game and the first quarter of the game in the next week.\u00a0 For any player that is charged with three T-2 in any season, they will be ineligible for the remainder of the current season.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
All college football players who sign with schools would be entering into a contract that binds them to the university for four years.\u00a0 Also, it would be in the contract that a player would have five years to play in four seasons upon signing their college contract, and the contract binds them to play only for that team they initially signed with.\u00a0 The transfer of players would be stricken from the rules.\u00a0 (This will never happen but it would improve the game if college football could pull it off)<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
Make all Power Five teams begin the season with an equal chance to play for a national championship. The system I have concocted could work, or one similar. This system would include changes in the playoff system. \u00a0 https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/?p=1064<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
All universities would have to average 25k people for home games and stadiums must have capacities of 30k.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
Scholarships would be upped to 100 with no restrictions on any number per year.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
No scheduling of teams not at the highest level.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
\u00a0Each player would be paid a salary that would reflect the medium salary of a first year teacher in that state’s teacher pay plan.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
Each player would be given complete heath insurance for the four years (or more) while on the team.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
\u00a0The age of a player to sign a “contract” to play with a university must be 18 at the beginning of August 1 of their entry year.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n- \n
\u00a0Coaches contracts of employment would be binding and movement from one school to another before a year was over would be banned.\u00a0 All contracts, head and assistants, would be for one year only.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n <\/p>\n
