I didn’t see it coming (UT’s win over OU, I had OU in a rout).\u00a0 But after thinking about today’s game in the Cotton Bowl, I can look back and say what I watched was not surprising.\u00a0 Texas, a\u00a01-4 football team, was markedly better on this day, dominating in both lines, offense and\u00a0defense, with an added component that the\u00a0coaching staff in Austin did the better job in preparing for this classic confrontation.\u00a0\u00a0Texas wins\u00a024-17 and\u00a0I feel good for Charlie Strong.\u00a0\u00a0It was needed as much as any game he will coach in his career.\u00a0 For at least one Saturday in 2015, Hook’em.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Texas rushed 313 yards in their one dimensional offense.\u00a0 OU’s defense did what they could, stopping UT on various possessions, but that was expected from an undefeated Sooner team.\u00a0 But when it was needed the Horns got the plays that were enough to frost OU.\u00a0\u00a0 Sooner Baker Mayfield’s (QB)\u00a0play was\u00a0as good as possible running from\u00a0for his\u00a0life (sacked 6 times) but UT’s freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard’s mistake free play and general gamesmanship were what Texas needed. No turnovers, no egregious mistakes this day.\u00a0 \u00a0D’Onta Foreman’s 81 yard run in the 3rd was a backbreaker as Texas held their14-3 lead and never allowed OU to catch up. In the final analysis, OU wasn’t as good as many thought and Texas is better than many thought, and line play is a difference on many occasion.<\/strong><\/h6>\n
