Pete Rose made some comments on his fellow team-mate Johnny Bench recently.\u00a0 From The Oklahoman<\/em> newspaper and lead sports writer Berry Tramel:<\/span><\/h5>\n

Thirty years ago, Rose was banned from baseball, a lifetime punishment for betting on the game, thus making him ineligible for the Hall of Fame. Rose has spent most of the last three decades trying to convince America he\u2019s worthy of Cooperstown, and many of his high-profile teammates have offered no support. Bench at the top of the list.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n
\u201cIt don\u2019t bother me,\u201d Rose said a few weeks ago on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Brian Kilmeade Show,\u201d while promoting his new book. \u201cBut you know, Johnny Bench is one guy who should thank God I was born. Because he never would have made the Hall of Fame if I wasn\u2019t born \u2026 I\u2019m the guy he knocked in a thousand times. My feelings: \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
I liked both Rose and Bench. But there were differences as there were similarities. The differences were significant as were the likes. But one thing is certain. Bench is in the Hall-of-Fame for what he did on the field. Rose is not in the Hall-of-Fame for what he did off the field. And to add, Bench was all about doing what was right with regard to the game of baseball. Rose never understood that (doing right) and will die not understanding that “YOU DON”T BET ON BASEBALL.” <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n

I have no issues with human fault. The game of Baseball DOES.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n
