Former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops has been linked as a possible choice to lead the Central Michigan University football team.\u00a0 Stoops, brother of ultra successful former Sooner Head Coach Bob Stoops and older brother of Kentucky Head coach Mark\u00a0Stoops, is a former head man at Arizona where he lead the Wildcats to a 41-50\u00a0record from 2004-2011.\u00a0 In October, Stoops was fired from his position\u00a0at OU\u00a0shortly after losing to the University of Texas (48\u201345).<\/h6>\n

Central Michigan fired its football coach, John Bonamego, on Friday after a 1-11 season, the worst in school history.<\/h6>\n

Stoops ties to the AD at Central Michigan is significant.<\/h6>\n

The Central Michigan athletic director is Mike Alford, who last November was hired away from OU after five years, the last four as senior associated AD.\u00a0 Alford will also consider another OU assistant, Cale Gundy.\u00a0 But Mike is the key with his experience as of his years in Arizona as the head man.<\/h6>\n

Stoops has said he has not been approached by UCM but said he\u00a0would listen to any offer.<\/h6>\n

Footballscoop.com listed Stoops as a candidate and said, \u201cLanding Stoops would create quite a buzz in MAC country, but there are a number of other coaches that seem to be in the mix as well.\u201d<\/h6>\n
