SOONERS WIN IN CLOSE FIGHT WITH THE ARMY<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

A resurgence of the Texas Longhorns, a close shave by the Oklahoma Sooners, and a discombobulation of the Oklahoma State Cowboys by the Texas Tech Red Raiders highlight last weekends Big Twelve Football action.<\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Oklahoma was taken to overtime before it’s defense finally put the Army\u00a0offense away in a 28-21 nail biter in Norman.\u00a0 The Sooner stoppers could not keep the Black Nights from dominating the clock as the visitors ran the ball play after play, getting first down after first down, in long cross country drives.\u00a0With the\u00a0balance of the final quarter left, Army shut the door on the Sooners\u00a0with a goal line stand on the one foot line.\u00a0\u00a0 The West Point team then pressed OU’s worn out defense, looking to go\u00a099 yards with the score tied to win the game.\u00a0 Army\u00a0almost took their drive\u00a0to fruition but fell short in the end as OU intercepted a pass deep in Sooner territory.\u00a0 OU then\u00a0drove deep into the belly of\u00a0Army’s homeland but\u00a0missed a short chip shot field goal by Austin Seibert that forced the overtime.\u00a0 OU got the\u00a0ball first and scored easily.\u00a0\u00a0Another interception closed out the game.\u00a0 OU was damn lucky to walk away with a win in this one.\u00a0 The Sooners were not adequately prepared to defend Army’s wishbone\u00a0Saturday night.\u00a0 Army\u00a0game plan\u00a0to pull out the upset was spot\u00a0on,\u00a0but it was not to be.\u00a0 A good win on a night that could have been a sorry ass loss for the Big Red of the South.\u00a0\u00a0OU must be living right, Lincoln Riley and Mike Stoops included..\u00a0 This historic game was one for he ages.<\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

Texas was too much for TCU\u00a0as Tom Herman’s Horns played their best game in two years under the head coach.\u00a0 Texas was solid on both sides the ball and with a win this week at Kansas State, a nice set-up for the Red River Shootout in\u00a0 a week will be a magnificent meeting of two excellent teams. Texas has finally made significant progress in their play.<\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

Texas Tech came to Stillwater, got the win over the Pokes, and departed with much more respect. Oklahoma State proved that when you are not ready to play in this league, bad things can happen.\u00a0 Tech is better than expected and OSU needs to regroup.\u00a0 They will.\u00a0 One opinion is that OSU will have more difficulty in winning against the better teams as of their quarterback situation. Taylor Cornelius is satisfactory at best and that will hurt them more often than not.\u00a0 As for Tech, their freshman signal callers will continue to improve and the Oklahoma, TCU, West Virginia game are winnable.<\/h6>\n

 <\/p>\n

Baylor’s win over Kansas was expected.\u00a0 West Virginia’s win at home over Kansas State was also.\u00a0 With Iowa State beating Akron in Ames, the Cyclones get that first win and showed they are not as bad as their 1-2 start.<\/h6>\n
