Ever wonder why the Cleveland Cavs signed veteran center Kendrick Perkins as a seldom used post player at the end of this current season? \u201cPerk\u201d was not going to play a role on the floor, did he not?\u00a0 His specific job in Cleveland was to be a inspirational un-named \u201ccoach\u201d on the bench, utilizing his experience in bringing a toughness and a valuable piece in getting the Cavs to be better in their\u00a0post<\/em> game with their \u201cbigs\u201d.\u00a0 Fact of the matter, Perkins is one of the smartest and most complete teachers of paint<\/em> play and will be an assistant in the NBA in a very short time.\u00a0 His ascension to the head coaching position is just a matter of time.<\/p>\n

Perkins has had offers to retire from the game and begin his bench coaching career.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I expect that he will if fact hang\u2019em up this summer and be a member of an NBA staff by the opening of the 2018-19 season.\u00a0 It does not hurt that Perkins is best friends with Lebron James, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.\u00a0 That power of association is significant in attaining\u00a0 a coaching job in the Association.\u00a0 Without James\u2019s input, Perkins would not have been with the Cavs this playoff season.<\/p>\n

Perkins made news during the NBA Finals with Golden State,\u00a0and his personality is always on display.\u00a0 He can be the\u00a0\u201cenforcer\u201d.\u00a0 But the fact is that he is more mouth than\u00a0bite as he is highly thought of by\u00a0franchises,\u00a0coaches and players alike.\u00a0 He has a great understanding of the chemistry of a team and with his knowledge of the game, expect success in his next career.\u00a0 A Perkins team would be well-coached, tough in\u00a0on-court work,\u00a0and will give a franchise the edge needed to be a winner.<\/p>\n
