{"id":5425,"date":"2018-05-27T08:58:28","date_gmt":"2018-05-27T13:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/?p=5425"},"modified":"2018-08-20T14:24:04","modified_gmt":"2018-08-20T19:24:04","slug":"sooner-softball-dynasty-coach-patty-gasso-are-as-great-as-any-in-ou-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/?p=5425","title":{"rendered":"Sooner Softball Dynasty, Coach Patty Gasso, are as great as any in OU history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5428\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5428\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/?attachment_id=5428\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5428\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5428 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2-1024x710.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2-768x533.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2-454x315.jpg 454w, https:\/\/fredsportsextra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/patty-gasso-2-87x60.jpg 87w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5428\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sooner Coach Patti Gasso (photo found at KFOR, OKC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\"><strong>Oklahoma has honored three big time football coaches with statues.\u00a0 Bud, Barry, and Bob are all major figures in Sooner coaching lore.\u00a0 Bud Wilkinson did it in the 50\u2019s.\u00a0 Barry Switzer some twenty or so yeas later.\u00a0 Bob Stoops followed in the 2000\u2019s.\u00a0 Today, Patti Gasso, the foundation piece of Oklahoma softball, is making her claim as the fourth face on the Sooner Mount Rushmore of head coaches.\u00a0 And this coach is as great as any that has stepped foot in Norman.\u00a0 With four National Titles and 16 conference championships, Gasso has become the greatest working coach in softball.\u00a0 Her Sooner softball program is the best in the country.<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\">Another spot in the Women\u2019s College Softball World Series was won by the Sooners Saturday with a super regional sweep of the Arkansas Razorbacks, giving the team an opportunity to win their third straight National Championship next week in Oklahoma City.UCLA is the only other school to win three straight.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\">The Sooners\u00a0have won\u00a0four titles since 2000, and have established themselves at the highest level of tradition in this sport.\u00a0UCLA and Arizona, welcome\u00a0the Sooner\u00a0program in pushing\u00a0you\u00a0at the top of the game.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\">The Sooners have a great chance pulling off the\u00a0three peat with superior and deep pitching while\u00a0fielding a team as good as any in the areas of hitting, hitting with power, and fielding.\u00a0 The fact is that OU is a loaded team from players that have migrated to Norman from all across the country.\u00a0Women ball players\u00a0do not\u00a0get scholarships\u00a0from Patti Gasso unless\u00a0they are the cream of the crop in women\u2019s softball.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\">Sure, the game is often times one of a few runs and anything can happen.\u00a0Any team good enough to make the WCWS is good\u00a0enough to\u00a0take the\u00a0championship trophy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But do not think OU\u2019s fourth seed in this years tournament is any indication of their superiority of\u00a0the\u00a0 sport.\u00a0 The three teams ranked ahead of them, and everyone else in the field,\u00a0know that the National Championship not only goes through Oklahoma City but through the Oklahoma Sooners.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ba2727;\">Look for a third title more than likely.
