Legendary football coach Barry Switzer turned eighty years old today.\u00a0 The former Sooner\u00a0head coach\u00a0and Dallas Cowboy Super Bowl winning\u00a0field boss\u00a0celebrates in Nashville, Tennessee tonight with his family for this milestone day in his life.<\/span><\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leading Oklahoma to three national college football titles, in 1974, 1975, and 1985, Switzer was run out of Norman after the Sooner program went through troubled times in the late eighties.\u00a0 Coach Switzer was hired in\u00a0to lead the Dallas Cowboys in 1994 and his Cowboys won Super Bowl XXX in 1995.\u00a0 He retired from coaching in 1997 after four years in Dallas. He has not coached since his retirement in the past twenty-two years.<\/span><\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the record, Switzer\u2019s Sooners were 9-5-2 against the Texas Longhorns, including a 3-0-1 mark against former Sooner player and Texas legendary coach\u00a0\u00a0\u201cDaddy\u201d Darrell Royal.\u00a0 A final record of 157-29-4 for OU, making him number two at Oklahoma just behind Bob Stoops who has won 190 games and lost 48. Switzer coached\u00a0thirteen seasons in Norman as the head\u00a0coach and another eight as an assistant coach. The Arkansas native and former Razorback lineman lives in Norman today.<\/span><\/h5>\n

Switzer was and still is the \u201cKING\u201d in Oklahoma.<\/span><\/h5>\n
