Enes Kanter is a\u00a0player for the\u00a0Oklahoma City\u00a0Thunder. In two and one half years\u00a0on hardwood of the Chesapeake\u00a0Energy Arena on\u00a0Reno Street,\u00a0the tall Turk\u00a0has become one of the most popular players in the franchise.\u00a0 He is noted\u00a0for his generous heart\u00a0through his\u00a0charity\u00a0endeavors in\u00a0community and world wide work.\u00a0 Kanter’s\u00a0\u00a0gregarious personality\u00a0as he goes about his daily duties is noted.\u00a0\u00a0He is a man that enjoys life. <\/span><\/h5>\n

His Thunder teammates are in his corner as demonstrated in the last week or so.\u00a0 This\u00a0man that has earned the respect of\u00a0fans and non-fans\u00a0in this city, and to be fair, with the conservative atmosphere in Oklahoma, that may, to some, be quite remarkable. People around the country like to put down Oklahomans for not being accommodating for others beliefs (yes, OK is the red state of red states).\u00a0\u00a0Yet as far as I have been able to witness, Kanter, along with other Muslim players for OKC, Thabo Sefolosha, and Dion Waiters, have been supported 100 percent and given their\u00a0just freedoms\u00a0to be what they are in OKC, favorites.\u00a0 Enes, Thabo, ad Dion have been\u00a0upstanding members of\u00a0our community.\u00a0The Thunder ownership has also been\u00a0great with\u00a0the players they bring to\u00a0OKC.\u00a0 Religious issues do not come up, as their needs are met with great care and\u00a0any discourse\u00a0would be unimaginable.\u00a0 Yes, there is something to “the Thunder way.”<\/span><\/h5>\n

Enes\u00a0Kanter won’t end his career in OKC as the way of the NBA, but be assured that he will always be a loved member of the Thunder.\u00a0\u00a0We know this\u00a0from his interaction with the\u00a0his current team and\u00a0his current residence.\u00a0 He is at home right now in OKC.\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/h5>\n

As he can call Oklahomans\u00a0his\u00a0family, the thought is reciprocal.\u00a0 Oklahoma can and does call Enes family.\u00a0 That will not end even if his basketball travels take him to another\u00a0place.\u00a0\u00a0Change of\u00a0address does not mean change of heart.\u00a0OKC will always be HOME for Enes.<\/span><\/h5>\n

Now, it looks like Turkey itself is pushing back against the former Utah Jazz lottery pick.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a report from AFP, Turkey issued an arrest warrant for Kanter, claiming that he is a member of a terrorist organization.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA judge issued the arrest warrant after an Istanbul prosecutor opened an investigation into Kanter\u2019s alleged \u201cmembership of an armed terrorist organisation\u201d, Sabah Daily,\u00a0a pro-government newspaper in Turkey<\/a>, reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

Obviously, this is nothing more than the oppressive government attempting to throw Kanter under the bus. It\u2019s the way dictatorships push back against those who oppose their rule. Using what amounts to as nothing more than a state-run newspaper to make the claim magnifies this further.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
