Oklahoma City Thunder’s Enes Kanter is being held by police in Romania as his Turkish passport has been revoked.\u00a0 From a report by FOX SPORTS:<\/p>\n

Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter says he’s being detained at an airport in Romania because his Turkish passport has been revoked.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m being held at Romanian airport by Police,<\/a>” the Thunder big man tweeted along with a video on Saturday (which happened to be his birthday).<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If that’s true \u2014 and there’s next to no reason to believe it is not \u2014 Kanter is in a gravely serious situation. It’s a situation from which the Thunder, the NBA, and the U.S. State Department might not be able to extricate him.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We’re working off of Kanter’s word, but it’s clear that his predicament is not a clerical error.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s hard to say where things will go from here, but understanding the context of Kanter’s situation can shed light on the situation.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
