I am a Julie Christie fanatic\u00a0from the first time I viewed her at the theater in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>Darling<\/em><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>in 1965.\u00a0 Second, I am a Warren Beatty fan, and putting those together in a sports fantasy movie directed by both Beatty and Buck Henry, a remake of a previous version of this classic stage play by Harry Segall (<em>Here Comes Mr<\/em>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><em>Jordan<\/em>-1941) is never old from the first frame.\u00a0Both movies are classic and I am picking the newer Beatty film because the love interest is done better in this version. Both are outstanding. This movie is on many of my lists, including love stories and fantasy films, and comedy, drama and good old fashion movie excitement is ever present.\u00a0 Ten Oscar nominations tell you\u00a0how great this one is.\u00a0\u00a0 The critics did not overlook it and I shall not either.\u00a0The supporting cast includes both great character actors such as Jack Warden, the great James Mason, Dyan Cannon, and various football players of the time.\u00a0 Funny as hell and so deep in emotions.\u00a0 It gets me every time.\u00a0 And this movie is better than two other fine Beatty\/Christie flicks, &#8220;Shampoo&#8221;
