Texas Tech<\/span> became a player Saturday in the Big 12 with their win in Fayetteville over the Razorbacks, OU<\/span> and TCU<\/span> seem to be in the same situation with Baylor<\/span> with their defensive problems, and Oklahoma State <\/span>proved it can blow someone out and stop with the underwhelming production on offense and lack of turnovers.\u00a0 Here is a brief look at the week.<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oklahoma<\/span>:\u00a0 Pass defense is still a concern and if OU wants to win the conference they will need to outscore their opponents.\u00a0 Baylor, TCU, West Virginia Texas Tech\u00a0and Okla.State will provide exciting nail-biting games for the Sooners and to win three of these five would be acceptable.\u00a0 Win all five and hello Oklahoma to the Final Four. Sooners have the offensive to hog the ball with a run game but games like 56-49 are on their way.\u00a0 With Baker Mayfield the Sooners have the best quarterback in the league north of Fort Worth.<\/h6>\n

Texas Tech<\/span>:\u00a0 They surprised me by playing winning defense.\u00a0 Kliff Kingsbury proved to be every bit the better coach than the Hog\u2019s Bret Bielema as Patrick Mahomes II played an outstanding game.\u00a0 Tech is back enough to be a player in the conference. And yes, Kingsbury \u201ckicked Bielema\u2019s ass\u201d with regard to what the Arkansas coach said to the Texas High School Coaches.\u00a0 Good job Red Raiders.<\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas<\/span>:\u00a0 Improvement on offense with Jay Norville running the system.\u00a0 A game that could have been a win.\u00a0 California must be living a good life.\u00a0 Good luck Texas as you are going to get run over in conference.\u00a0 Three wins?<\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kansas State<\/span>:\u00a0 Another win. But wait, The Big 12 in here and three conference wins might be the level of success.\u00a0 Still not impressed with K-State on offense.\u00a0 How can they keep up\u00a0with the Baylor\u2019s, TCU\u2019s,,,,,,,,<\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oklahoma State:\u00a0 A sleeper in Stillwater, the Pokes are still developing.\u00a0 If Texas turns it over in Austin next week look for an OSU blowout.\u00a0 Man-for-man OSU has been much the better team than their opponents and Texas will have to deal with that.<\/h6>\n

I<\/span>owa S<\/span>tate<\/span>:\u00a0 Toledo is not a bad football team whatsoever.\u00a0Yet, Iowa State might have one or two wins in their basket for the remainder of the season. OT losses to a MAC team is not good.\u00a0 I think the powers to be will let ISU Coach Paul Rhoads finish the season.<\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

TCU<\/span>:\u00a0 Defense is an issue.\u00a0 Losing a front line starter in the defensive backfield hurts big time.\u00a0 TCU falls into the Baylor and OU group. They will have to outscore those two to win.<\/h6>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kansas<\/span>, Baylor<\/span>, and West Virginia<\/span> did not play.<\/h6>\n

Least Impressive Team of the Week:\u00a0 Texas<\/h6>\n
Player of the Week:\u00a0 Baker Mayfield, OU<\/h6>\n

Final reflection:\u00a0 If a Big 12 team goes undefeated they will\u00a0 make the Final Four.\u00a0 The league seems to be significantly better after three weeks.\u00a0\u00a0 West Virginia and Texas Tech are in the mix to be significant players in the league.\u00a0 Kansas, Kansas State, Texas and Iowa State are going to have problems in 2015.<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n
