Ohio State Routs OU while Oklahoma State wins over ACC’s Pittsburg while\u00a0Texas cannot stop\u00a0the Cal\u00a0Bears passing game\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Ohio State<\/span> beats Oklahoma<\/span> 45-24 in Norman-The Buckeyes are a contender for the National Title this year, next year, and for the foreseeable future. Speed on defense, a stout offensive line, a solid mistake free quarterback, and an exceptional wide receiver was too much for the Sooners Saturday night.\u00a0 The largest sports crowd in Oklahoma state history, a shade under 88,000, watched the rout, after an hour and one half minute delay for weather.\u00a0The Urban Meyer coached Bucks, the youngest Division One team in the country, played some\u00a0serious football with\u00a0showcasing\u00a0the\u00a0best\u00a0collective athletes on any football team\u00a0just north of Tuscaloosa.<\/h6>\n

OU was beaten on the field and in the coaching box, as the Sooner offense was\u00a0lacking in getting their best player, Joe Mixon, the ball on a consistent basis, while Defensive Coordinator Mike Stoops had no answers in\u00a0getting his defenders to stop the effective Ohio State running and passing game.\u00a0\u00a0 I might add\u00a0the Ohio State’s BEST DAMN BAND IN THE LAND was every bit as fine as any in the country.\u00a0It was\u00a0fabulous during their halftime performance in dotting the I in scrip Ohio<\/em>.<\/h6>\n

<\/h6>\n
On a personal note,\u00a0and as\u00a0a college football fan, I totally enjoyed watching a great team play.\u00a0\u00a0 The Buckeyes reminded me of\u00a0 many former Sooner teams that were so much better than even the good teams they would play. OU is actually a good football team and will win most of\u00a0the games\u00a0to play this year.\u00a0 Yet, Ohio State\u00a0was that much better Saturday, smacking the\u00a0Sooners into their second loss in three games. \u00a0OU was on the receiving end of some Bucknut haymakers Saturday.\u00a0The almost two hour delay and the $125 face value ticket price was well worth it.\u00a0 (Sooner fans, the bar has been set and it is up to the football coaches and administration to get with it to make OU football like it was when the Sooners were not just playing the best teams but beating them.\u00a0 The ball is in President David\u00a0Boren and Coach Bob Stoops field of play.\u00a0 Time to get with it.\u00a0 Another Ohio State thumping is just a short year away.<\/h6>\n

Oklahoma State proved that they can be a very good passing team if\u00a0the opponent’s pass defense is terrible. The Pokes 42-35 win in Stillwater\u00a0showcased Mason Rudolph and James\u00a0Washington as the\u00a0best pass\u00a0catch combination in the Big Twelve.\u00a0\u00a0If you can’t stop the pass you are in for a long\u00a0day when you play O-State.\u00a0 Pittsburgh is not a bad\u00a0team\u00a0and the win was every bit as good for the conference as the Texas upset of Notre Dame in the first week of the\u00a0season. The Panthers\u00a0and Irish are very close\u00a0in more ways than just talent.\u00a0 A solid win for the Big Twelve.<\/h6>\n

Baylor played a\u00a0sluggish first half against a bad Rice Owl team and finished them off with\u00a0a better second half performance, winning\u00a038-10 in Waco.\u00a0 Baylor should be showing more than they have in their first three games against suspect opponents and I think they will come out next week and play much better against the Cowboys in another home contest.\u00a0\u00a0More on this\u00a0key matchup later in the week.<\/h6>\n

TCU was all over Iowa State in conference action 41-20 in Fort Worth.\u00a0 Iowa State was not good as usual.\u00a0TCU did what they\u00a0needed to do to win. Not an impressive win for the Frogs.<\/h6>\n

California proved that Texas might have some issues on defense as the Bears take the home win at 50-43. Every loss for Coach Strong is a major setback and brings the coach closer to being fired sometime this season.\u00a0 Not a good game for the Horns.<\/h6>\n
