I am pushing sixty years watching the game.\u00a0 That is the National Football League my friends and readers.\u00a0 I was there (not in the stadium, but watching the game) when the great New York Giant quarterback Y.A. Tittle was knocked silly back in 1964, sitting on his knees, bleeding from his left temple,\u00a0 He was my favorite as a young kid, along with Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts and Bill Wade of the Chicago Bears.\u00a0 I watched, in black and white on my family\u2019s Admiral 25 incher.\u00a0 It was before color in our home.\u00a0 No matter, that photo taken after the hit\u00a0(above) was significant for Mr. Tittle.\u00a0 It should be\u00a0a game changer for many a professional football player.\u00a0\u00a0It is one\u00a0of the\u00a0two most iconic NFL photos taken\u00a0in my lifetime, the other being the hit on\u00a0Frank Gifford by the man\u00a0named Chuck.\u00a0You must understand that\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Tittle\u00a0looked like an old man in that photo, a really old warrior of the game.\u00a0 But he was only 38 at the time, not forty-five or something like that.\u00a0\u00a0Y.A \u00a0has suffered greatly in his life after football. He still lives, and at age 89 he suffers an extreme form of dementia.\u00a0 He has been in one form of brain damage for many years.\u00a0 You think hits to the head kill you early in life? No so for everyone. Some live to be old in age.\u00a0Like\u00a0looking at the forest but can\u2019t see the trees.\u00a0 Or something like that.\u00a0\u00a0Old age and football hits have not been kind to this old gentleman.\u00a0 Football does that to young men.\u00a0It makes middle age men old, very old, in later life. Sad men.\u00a0 Just ask the other Tony, the Dorsett Tony.<\/h5>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tony Romo, laying out on the carpet in Seattle\u00a0Thursday night in that needless exhibition game, reminded me of Y.A.\u00a0 Yes, seeing the great Tony Romo, curled up like a baby in a fetal position brought back memories of my childhood. \u00a0Mr. Romo is 36, going on 60 with a continual breaking of his body.\u00a0 What is in store for Mr. Romo in the less than half season he will attempt to play once he comes back from his broken back?\u00a0 A shot to the head, knocking\u00a0Tony Romo,\u00a0\u00a0the modern day Y.A\u00a0Tittle\u00a0quarterback silly,\u00a0 with a bubble gum brain in his later years to look forward to?<\/h5>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Someone needs to tell\u00a0Mr.Romo not to play the rich chump.\u00a0Ruin your body and brain for what? Your big contract?\u00a0Money?\u00a0Let us get real.\u00a0 \u00a0A championship in Dallas with Tony Romo is not happening.\u00a0\u00a0It is time\u00a0to hang up the cleats,\u00a0call it\u00a0a career.\u00a0 You have enough money playing football.\u00a0 Get a life and live to a ripe old and productive age.<\/h5>\n

Sports fans,\u00a0ever\u00a0view the movie\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0Champ\u201d with Wallace Berry?\u00a0 Mr. Romo can play that part too, right down to the final knockout.\u00a0 The one that you don\u2019t get off the table from.\u00a0 The Champ as played by\u00a0Mr. Berry\u00a0was heroic, but really, he was just a \u201cchump.\u201d Jackie Cooper, the kid actor\u00a0could tell you that.<\/h5>\n
