Never think that Kansas State can not win a football game when they have the great Bill Snyder on the sidelines.\u00a0 Even with a sixth place prediction in the ten team Big Twelve, the Wildcats will put a good and competitive team on the field every Saturday this season.\u00a0 Never out-coached, Snyder will hunt down his 200th career win in 2016 and he has a fighting chance in getting it.\u00a0 But with key games on the road, it is not a given.\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/h4>\n

On offense Kansas State continues to be as conventionally unconventional as any in the nation.\u00a0 A simple quarterback driven running game, when the offensive line\u00a0man handles the opponents\u00a0defensive front. KSU will\u00a0move up and down the field. With only one starter coming back on the 0-line, I still think\u00a0they will move the ball better than most on the ground.\u00a0 Snyder will find a quarterback among four candidates, with Jesse Ertz\u00a0leading the pack.\u00a0 Ertz was injured in game one last year and is a 6’3 junior that is plenty strong at 200lb.\u00a0 Freshman Skylar Thompson is the future in this position and might see snaps in 2017.\u00a0 He\u00a0is a talent\u00a0in the\u00a0small\u00a0KSU recruiting class.\u00a0\u00a0Charles Jones, a 5’10\u00a0200 pound senior was effective late\u00a0last year and will be the feature back.\u00a0\u00a0Just an average offense, yet\u00a0good enough to run clock and that is all Snyder needs in this 2016 season.\u00a0\u00a0Offense Grade: C<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The defense will provide the\u00a0Cats the emphasis needed for a winning season.\u00a0 Good players abound, with safety Dante Barnett\u00a0(6’1\u00a0\u00a0193) and defensive end Jordan Willis (6’5 250) as all Big Twelve performers.\u00a0Kansas State will have one of the better defenses in the league and will keep the Cats in most games.\u00a0 Defense Grade:\u00a0 A-<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Special Teams are always important to this program and this season KSU has some kick returner Matthew McCrane is a weapon.\u00a0 The placement and punter will, as usual, be effective parts of this team.\u00a0 Special Teams Grade: A-<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

With an opening game at Stanford, the great Christian McCaffrey will be tested by the Wildcat defense.\u00a0 Do not expect a win but it could be a close game.\u00a0 A key game will be October 22 in the Little Apple when the Texas Longhorns come to play.\u00a0 This game will determine what kind of season the Cats will have.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
