\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas<\/span> Head Coach Charlie Strong would like to \u201crestart\u201d the season. Yes, lets have a mulligan, a do-over, wipe the slate clean and maybe play a rum dumb sisters-0f-the-poor school to guarantee a win.\u00a0 I wonder if the Longhorn fans could go back\u00a0 20 months, the day of hire for Strong, and\u00a0they too would like a \u201crestart\u201d on the choosing of the former coach at Louisville.\u00a0 How about that Texas fans? Want\u00a0to tell the truth?\u00a0 Would you like to have someone else coaching your team in Austin? <\/strong><\/p>\n

It was a blowout loss in South Bend to Notre Dame Saturday\u00a0and the 38-3 score really didn\u2019t tell the tale of the defeat.\u00a0 Over 500 yards for the Irish, around 150 for Hook\u2019em. It showed that Texas might not have hit the bottom after last year in which Texas didn\u2019t go bowling for the first time in recent memory.\u00a0 This current Texas team does need something, a \u201crestart\u201d might be in order. But if that world mean Notre Dame again, not on your life.\u00a0 These two programs are historic but Texas is as low as it can go.\u00a0 Not for the Fighting Irish.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

What does UT need?\u00a0 How about everything AND the kitchen sink.\u00a0 Sink rhymes with stink and Texas currently \u201cSTINKS\u201d as bad a dead skunk that has been driven over a dozen times by a 18-wheeler.\u00a0 Seriously speaking, this Bevo is ready for the meat packing division of the nearest feed lot on the South side of Austin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As mentioned, would the\u00a0Texas fans go back 20 months for the \u201crestart\u201d when Strong was hired?\u00a0 He ran off a significant number of former Head Coach Mack Brown\u2019s players for one reason or another.\u00a0 Were they really that bad for the program?\u00a0 Did Mack make mistakes in bringing in players with \u201ccharacter flaws\u201d to play for the Horn\u2019s?\u00a0 Were they THAT bad for the program?\u00a0 You tell me but I have always respected Brown as a coach of men and that \u201cstink\u201d goes back to those dismissals.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Where does Strong go from here?\u00a0 I take it that the players still with Texas that were Brown\u2019s recruits are good with him, and his two recruiting classes are also with him and his mindset.\u00a0 Where does that get him if the team is getting their ass handed to them, seemingly on a regular schedule?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Strong\u2019s comments show some discourse on the state of the program and in how down this group of Horns are.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201dOur goal is to win the (Big 12) championship,\u201d\u00a0the Coach\u00a0said. \u201dWe know this week we have to go play well \u2026 millions and millions of people are involved in this program and we have to give them hope. They have to see progress.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Win the Big 12?\u00a0 When?\u00a0 What year?\u00a0 Not going to happen in the near future. How about in five, ten years?\u00a0 OK, go play well against Rice and see where that will get you.\u00a0 Well, I guess it will get you a win, one win, but it won\u2019t make the faithful that happy. Will it? \u00a0Hope? Progress?\u00a0 Texas, right!\u00a0 The eyes are bloodshot, and the hope and progress seem like they might be in Waco, Ft. Worth, Norman, Stillwater, and Morgantown.\u00a0 But in Austin? Not on your\u00a0watch Charlie.<\/strong><\/p>\n
