As the Oklahoman <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0newspaper\u00a0reported today, the Oklahoma State University sports fans have spoken and it is time for a change at the head of the men’s basketball program.\u00a0 A couple of thousand fans in the historic\u00a0venue called Gallagher-Iba Arena will not cut the mustard for Pistol Pete’s Ruben sandwich.\u00a0 Enough is enough and the Travis Ford rein in Stillwater needs to end.\u00a0With such a humongous buyout on his contract, $7.2 million currently, \u00a0Athletic Director \u00a0Mike Holder is between the rye of that sandwich.\u00a0\u00a0Holder’s hiring of Ford seven years back was a bad hire.\u00a0 Fact is,\u00a0Ford’s\u00a0time\u00a0at OSU\u00a0has\u00a0led to\u00a0a total failure of the program.\u00a0 A once proud\u00a0basketball school\u00a0guided by the greats of\u00a0Henry Iba and\u00a0Eddie Sutton is now just a run-of-the-mill Power Five Conference bottom feeder in the hard-as-hell Big 12.\u00a0 Holder does not\u00a0want to shell out school money to relieve Ford from the job. It is possible that the money is just not\u00a0there for such\u00a0an action.\u00a0\u00a0That is big time money.\u00a0Plus Holder\u00a0can not\u00a0turn to another money source, that being the often on and currently off billionaire T. Boone Pickens’s, the\u00a0cash cow that feeds Holder’s athletic\u00a0program.\u00a0 This is not a good time for the\u00a0oil and gas business of the wealthy Texan.<\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n

What we have left is a resignation of Travis Ford on his good name of honesty and doing what is right.\u00a0 Ford needs to ink the letter “I quit”, take a smaller, much smaller amount to leave, and scoot down the road to another job.\u00a0\u00a0He has made millions on T.Boone’s dime and continues to milk the cow of the financial giant and the school he over-sees.\u00a0 Ford would take a hit money wise, but his final act would secure a better legacy for his time at the University.\u00a0\u00a0Right now, Ford is not the most liked figure on campus.<\/span><\/h6>\n

Will Travis give it up? No, probably not.\u00a0 Probably has not\u00a0even thought about it.\u00a0\u00a0Probably\u00a0not in his make-up, to quit that is.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But he would not\u00a0be destitute if he did.\u00a0 Ford is\u00a0a rich man.\u00a0But it\u00a0would be the right thing to do.\u00a0 You don’t stay at a place you are not wanted.\u00a0 Pistol’s firing?<\/span><\/h6>\n
