And sports fans, all sports fans, third.\u00a0 Please note:\u00a0A special player from the Bahamas, that being the one and only Buddy Hield, is balling on the court in Norman, Oklahoma. Players like this deadly three-point shooter don’t come around often.\u00a0 I could have said “three-point gunner” but that would not describe this wonderful talent that has given four years of excitement\u00a0to the fans of the Sooner Nation. He is not a shot-a-minute player like the fabulous\u00a0Stephen Curry was at Davidson. He is a team player, exclusively playing the college game correctly, in\u00a0step with his floor mates.\u00a0 He\u00a0is not a gunner, but\u00a0in the college game,\u00a0more deadly from the three than the best NBA\u00a0three point gunner\u00a0in history. Yes, Hield\u00a0 is better than\u00a0Mr. Curry when he was in college<\/span><\/h6>\n

Mr. Buddy Hield \u00a0is not\u00a0your\u00a0typical\u00a0 “player of the year” in another way.\u00a0 \u00a0He is not hated as Oklahoma’s last John Wooden winner, the name of the trophy that Hield will have in his showcase later this Spring.\u00a0 No, Blake Griffin was not liked in Lawrence, Ames, or Austin.\u00a0 Sure, during a game on the road the opposing fans try to give\u00a0Hield the business,\u00a0but in truth, they are just not into it.\u00a0You don’t\u00a0give opposing players\u00a0standing ovations like\u00a0the one Hield got in Lawrence\u00a0after a historic game.\u00a0 That just doesn’t happen. Now I\u00a0will give the crowd, whatever there is of it, in Stillwater, credit as orange to them is their blood\u00a0color always.\u00a0 Red, even Buddy Hield red, won’t get a standing ovation there, ever.\u00a0 But Buddy is different.\u00a0\u00a0Griffin, also loved by Sooner fans, didn’t\u00a0give of himself as Hield\u00a0has, in regard\u00a0to\u00a0OU.\u00a0 Buddy Hield is a four year man, rare for greatness in college.\u00a0Four years toiling down the Loyd Noble\u00a0 in high\u00a0gear.\u00a0 As it\u00a0will settle later, at the end of this current season, somewhere between a 3rd \u00a0round NCAA tournament\u00a0game and the National Championship game for the Sooners, the last chapter of this great’s college career\u00a0will be written.\u00a0 Yes, Sooner National loved Wayman Tisdale, the one and only Wayman Tisdale.\u00a0To this day, till the end of time.\u00a0 But in five, ten, fifteen years, Sooner fans, and fans across the college world quite possibility will\u00a0think of this “Buddy” in the same way\u00a0as number 23 in your all-time Sooner program.\u00a0 Number 24 is special, real special.\u00a0 Don’t miss it.<\/span><\/h6>\n
