Lemon Remembered"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">After hearing that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meadowlark Lemon<\/span>, the clown prince of<em>\u00a0my<\/em> Harlem Globetrotters had passed during this holiday season, a surprising teary eyed emotional response overcame me.\u00a0 He was 83.\u00a0 <\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I remember watching Lemon do his act with the traveling team of fun and mayhem.\u00a0 The times that my Dad took me when I was a child (when Lemon was the star)\u00a0and the other times I took my own two sons to see the Trotters (when Lemon was the star)\u00a0were memories never to leave me\u00a0.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I will always think of Lemon as the man, knowing that others have filled his star role.\u00a0 Yet it was Meadowlark\u00a0for me, not the Goose or anyone else.\u00a0 I loved Marques Haynes, former Trotter, the World\u2019s Greatest dribbler, but he was \u201cnot\u201d the clown, the soul of the team when he played for them.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Those performances on national TV were never missed.\u00a0 When the\u00a0Trotters\u00a0came to Oklahoma City, I didn\u2019t go every year, but that was\u00a0all right. \u00a0In fact, one in five years\u00a0would be enough.\u00a0 But it always\u00a0revolved around Meadowlark, the master basketball performer.\u00a0 It is\u00a0<em>funny <\/em>\u00a0that the name Lemon would be associated with the two <em>\u201cfunniest\u201d<\/em> men in basketball\u2026..Meadowlark for what he could do on the court, and\u00a0Abe (Lemons), former Oklahoma City and Texas Longhorn head coach\u00a0,\u00a0for what he could do with his wit and one-liners<\/span>.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">In my lifetime, Lemon and Lemons were the best<\/span>.<\/h6>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Thank you Mr. Meadowlark Lemon for the memories.\u00a0 You will never be forgotten.<\/span><\/h6>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"
