Little do they realise that they are also secret pen-pals who have fallen in love via pen and paper.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: The two finally declare their love on Christmas Eve<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(Another Jimmy Stewart classic and a movie of attraction by words. \u00a0Classical and much better than it\u2019s remakes \u201cMeet Me In St. Louis\u201d and\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">\u00a0\u201cYou Got Mail\u201d. \u00a0That says a lot.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e; font-size: medium;\">A Christmas Story (1983):<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film: Watching Bob Clark\u2019s bittersweet rite-of-passage movie about a boy\u2019s obsession with getting a B.B. Gun for Christmas is an annual event in America, but strangely it\u2019s never taken off in Britain despite its wry realism.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: Despite nearly blinding himself with the gun, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) contentedly goes to bed with his prize present by his side.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(You\u2019ll shoot your eye out-nuff said)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e; font-size: medium;\">It\u2019s A Wonderful Life (1946):<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film: Frank Capra\u2019s fable of redemption, parallel universes and small-town life has been canonised as a feelgood classic. But its tale of a suicidal man (James Stewart) saved only by divine intervention is also darker than most remember, making it perfect seasonal fare whatever your view of life.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: George Bailey returns home on Christmas Eve to find that friends and family have bailed out the \u201cgreatest man\u201d in town, while Clarence the second-class angel finally gets his wings<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\"><br \/>\n(The best film of the 40\u2019s and that is saying much. \u00a0Jimmy Stewart was never better and the movie brings us back to what the meaning of life is all about. \u00a0If you don\u2019t believe in this movie you don\u2019t believe in goodness and God.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e; font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nHome Alone (1990):<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film: The McCallister family Christmas holiday checklist: tickets \u2013 check. Presents \u2013 check. Children \u2013 oh, bugger. Don\u2019t worry, folks. Abandoned Kevin (Macauley Culkin) is too busy reinventing Christmas as a child\u2019s playground of bed jumping and burglar bashing.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: The Kenosha Kickers, led by jovial Gus Polinski (John Candy) offer Kevin\u2019s mom Kate (Catherine O\u2019Hara) a lift home on Christmas Eve so she can be with her son on the big day.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(<span id=\"selectionBoundary_1418850149689_1081926750484854\"><\/span>The funniest Christmas move (with respect to The Christmas Story), the little man showed why he could act and the director showed why he made the most popular movies in his short time. \u00a0Hughes was a genius and Culkin was as good a child actor as Temple, Rooney and that little boy in the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">Champ.)<\/span><br \/>\n<span id=\"selectionBoundary_1418850149689_6307206442579627\"><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\"><br \/>\nNational Lampoon\u2019s Christmas Vacation (1989):<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film: How many ways can things go wrong for Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) when he decides to concoct the perfect family Christmas? Lots.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: Clark gets the best Christmas show on the street, by virtue of a methane explosion propelling his decorations into the sky.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(Wonderful even though Chase can\u2019t act. \u00a0Funny is not the word. \u00a0Side splitting humor with some of the greatest Christmas movie characters ever)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e; font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nMiracle On 34th Street (1947):<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film: Susan Walker (Natalie Wood) is convinced that Macy\u2019s department store Santa Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwen) is the real thing. The authorities aren\u2019t so sure, and start court proceedings to have him locked up.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment: Susan is sure her hunch about Kringle is right when he effortlessly slips into Dutch while speaking to a Jewish refugee girl.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(A classic that has to be included in any Top Ten of the best Christmas movies. \u00a0Watch it every Holiday season. Can\u2019t beat this Santa.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">One Magic Christmas 1984:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Film:\u00a0 An angel must show a mother the true meaning of Christmas. It\u2019s not just presents and materialistic things, but the people she cares about.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christmassy Moment:\u00a0 The trip to the North Pole and the most realistic Santa ever put on film.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #a82e2e;\">(You either love it or hate it. \u00a0Harry Dean Stanton is in top form as is Mary Steenburgen.)<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"pvc_clear\"><\/div>\n<p
