The first of the three piece, a long term salary extension for the best all-around basketball player in the world, Shai Gilgious Alexander, was inked today between him and the Oklahoma City Thunder.\u00a0 General Manager Sam Presti and OKC came to terms today giving the Thunder the playing rights to SGA through the 2031 season.\u00a0 The amount of the extension, $285 million, makes\u00a0 2025 MVP of both the regular season and playoffs, the highest paid player in the history of the Association.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

NBA MVP\u00a0Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>\u00a0has agreed to a four-year, $285 million super maximum contract extension with the champion\u00a0Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a>\u00a0through the 2030-31 season, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

This is now the richest annual salary for a player in league history.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

He has now signed two contract extensions as a member of the Thunder, cementing both sides’ partnership and trust since he arrived in Oklahoma City in 2019.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

Gilgeous-Alexander, who averaged a league-high 32.7 points during the regular season and 30.3 in the\u00a0NBA Finals<\/a>, joined an exclusive list of players to win the MVP and\u00a0Finals MVP<\/a>\u00a0in the same season. The only others to accomplish that feat are Michael Jordan (four times),\u00a0LeBron James<\/a>\u00a0(twice),\u00a0Larry Bird<\/a>\u00a0(twice),\u00a0Tim Duncan<\/a>,\u00a0Shaquille O’Neal<\/a>,\u00a0Hakeem Olajuwon<\/a>, Magic Johnson,\u00a0Moses Malone<\/a>,\u00a0Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Willis Reed<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n
