It is being reported by various news sources that Oklahoma Sooner running back Joe Mixon (that’s M I X O N), is going to forgo a step to the National Football League and is returning to school to play in the 2017 football season.  Mixon will be a junior for OU.  Many suspect his return gives the NFL time to digest the violent knockout of a women back in 2014.  Mixon joins Baker Mayfield among others giving the Sooners a potent offense for next season.  Currently only Samaje Perine, OU’s other dominate running back, has not made public his decision to return or try the NFL draft this spring.

Mixon had 2,126 all-purpose yards in the 2016 regular season, including 15 touchdowns. An additional year at Oklahoma will likely improve his draft stock, should he remain out of trouble. It is also important to note that Mixon still has a pending civil suit against him, a status conference is scheduled for February 7th. Most would assume it is in his best interest get the case over with before entering the draft. Mixon will be among the top running back prospects in the 2018 NFL Draft along with Saquon Barkley, Royce Freeman, and Nick Chubb.
