Make no mistake about it, I am a Chris Paul fan.  I enjoy watching the future NBA All-Star point guard, and have followed his career from his time at Wake Forest University through the New Orleans experience, which included his Rookie of the Year when the Hornets played in Oklahoma City, and his move to the Los Angeles Clippers.  He lived in my neighborhood when he was an OKC Hornet.  He is one of the great point guards in the history of the Association, a hard working team leader that gives it his all every minute on the court.  With that, Paul has a problem of smacking opponents in the groin and he did it again last night when he nailed Oklahoma City’s great Kevin Durant.  One incident is a happenstance. A second, or more, is a habit.  Fact of the matter, Chris Paul is a serial nut smasher.  Kevin Durant seemed stunned when Paul sneaked the blow into the groin and allowed Paul to continue to the basket on the play.  At the end of the half Durant was not happy with the play and let the officials know about.  Other Thunder players guided him off the court for the halftime locker room rest. Durant had issues with the officials earlier in the game as he was very vocal on a non-call when he was hit on a drive to the basket.  Head Coach Billy Donavan stepped in and took the technical foul, allowing Durant to avoid the “T”.

A possible fine could be on the way by the Association.  An incident of such pain is not good, especially in front of thousands in attendance and millions of NBA fans worldwide on the television.
